The IDSA Leadership Institute empowers infectious diseases and HIV practitioners to be future leaders. Crafted specifically by and for specialists in infectious diseases and HIV, the Leadership Institute offers two tailored leadership development pathways.



Rising Leaders program
We present the Rising Leaders program for those at the dawn of their leadership journey. Rising Leaders is an online-only leadership development program designed to empower health care professionals specializing in infectious diseases and HIV.
Through this program, you will embark on a journey of growth and development, obtaining effective strategies to overcome challenges and establish a framework for a successful career. You will have the opportunity to work with a certified career and leadership coach to pave the way for your future success as a health care leader. Join Rising Leaders and emerge as the health care leader you aspire to be!

Is the Community of Leaders Program Right for You?
Our Community of Leaders program is more than just a leadership development program. It’s a transformative journey designed specifically for mid- and senior-career infectious diseases specialists. Starting in February each year, leaders gain access to the IDSA Academy learning management system; there, they engage with a series of insightful webinars, thought-provoking readings and interactive discussion boards. The journey culminates in an immersive, multiday, in-person capstone intensive each May in Arlington, VA.
The Community of Leaders program is designed for those who are ready to take the next step in their leadership journey. This program is for you if you want to join a growing community of ascending and established leaders from diverse practice settings. It’s an opportunity to establish and communicate your personal leadership and management philosophy; evaluate and improve your leadership behaviors using a high-quality, valid and reliable 360-degree assessment tool (The Leadership Practices Inventory 360+); and codify strategies to plan, manage and implement change initiatives.
